S.O.S.: Slower, Older, Smarter., what it can look like!

SOS planesAn Airbus 380 is on its way across the Atlantic. It flies consistently at  800 km/h at 30,000 feet, when suddenly Jet Fighters appear.

The pilot of one fighter jet slows down, flies alongside the Airbus and greets the pilotSOS Fighter pilot
of the passenger plane by radio: “

Airbus, boring flight isn’t it? Now, have
a look here!”

He rolls his jet on its back, accelerates, breaks through the sound barrier, rises rapidly to a dizzying height, then swoops down almost to sea level in a breath-taking dive.  He loops back next to the Airbus and asks, “Well, how was that?”

The Airbus pilot answers: “Very impressive, but now, you look!”

The jet pilot watches SOS Airbus 380the Airbus, but nothing happens. It continues to fly stubbornly straight, with the same speed.  After 15 minutes, the Airbus pilot radios, “Well, how was that?”

Confused, the jet pilot asks, “What did you do?”

The AirBus pilot laughs and says, “I got up, stretched my legs, walked to the back of the aircraft to use the washroom, then got a cup of coffee and a chocolate fudge pastry.

The moral of this story is

When you are young, speed and adrenaline seem to be great. But as you get
older and wiser, you learn that comfort and peace are more important.

This is called S.O.S……….

Slower, Older & Smarter.

Dedicated to all my friends who have realized that it was time to slow down and enjoy the rest of the trip.

I wish all of you a wonderful holiday and Christmas season. May you slow down and enjoy, having fun, love, and lots of laughter into 2022 and beyond.

Humans really do care about each other, believe it or not!

But how much is too much? I’ve never known!

Every human being has a basic instinct to help each other out. It might not seem that way since the media doesn’t highlight the good in our world. But it’s true.

blood giving line up

If a hiker gets lost in the mountains, people will coordinate a search. If a train crashes people will line up to give blood, if an earthquake levels a city, people all over the world will send emergency supplies

Helping others is so fundamentally human that its found in every culture without exception.

Yes there are a******s who just don’t care, but they’re massively outnumbered by people who do.  Pretty cool, eh?

overwhelmedIf the realities we’re all facing in so many contexts have depressed you or make you want to scream like a banshee, take heart & look for the gifts all around us. There are many lessons in the experiences challenging us from which we must learn, if we want to live meaningful, satisfying, and joyful lives.

But it might take some work, and it might take stretching ourselves to help each other, even if its only to make ourselves feel better. And there’s no shame in that.

And you aren’t required to let the ‘Grinches’ bring you down; they’re just projecting their grinch own miseries, and it’s not your job to carry their burdens on your shoulders.  You can empathize with their pain by walking in their shoes to do so, but you don’t have to live in their shoes.

Ultimately, you may have to dump the joy-busters, and devote your time to the joy-boosters. Try it, you might like it.
